About HammackBacksHike

Fed official Hammack said policy is not restrictive, inflation is still too high, and action is needed. After August payrolls came in at 162K, CME futures lifted September hike odds from about 50% to 58.6%, and Citi pushed its first cut call from Oc 2026 to Jun 2027. On the other side, Allianz IM's Charlie Ripley notes Aug wage growth slowed to a yearly low of 3.09%, turning real wage growth negative, while Trump demands cuts. August CPI lands Sep 11 and the FOMC meets Sep 15 to 16.

Someone else is coming out hawkish again. Hammack directly stated last night — monetary policy isn’t tight enough, inflation is still too high, something needs to be done. He almost wrote "I support rate hikes" on his face. But whether there will be a hike in September isn’t up to Hammack, nor Trump, it’s up to the data. The nonfarm payrolls have already added fuel to the rate hike fire. If next Wednesday’s CPI continues to heat up, a September hike is basically certain.#HammackBacksHike

The Fed just got a stronger case for a hike. August payrolls came in at 162K, far above expectations, while unemployment held at 4.1%. The September hike odds jumped back toward 60%. But the story isn't over. Wage growth is cooling, and next week's CPI could still change everything before the Sep. 15–16 FOMC. **If CPI comes hot, does $BTC face another selloff? #HammackBacksHike #BTCGoldRatioHigh #OKXOutcomeLeagueFOMC

BTC holding near $79.6K while ETH and SOL lag suggests this pullback is more about selective risk reduction than broad capitulation. With HammackBacksHike shaping the macro debate, rate expectations remain the cleaner near-term driver. I would watch relative strength before treating weakness as a trend change. Not advice, just analysis.

Trump threatens to stop trade with other countries if the US doesn’t lower its interest rates

Trump is threatening to halt $𝟯𝟬𝟬𝗕 in monthly US trade with every deficit-running country if the Fed doesn't cut rates on September 16 — and the market now expects a 𝗵𝗶𝗸𝗲 instead, setting up a direct White House–Fed confrontation. The threat would cut off roughly half of all US trading partners, including Mexico, China, Japan, South Korea, Germany, and Canada. Trump claims the Supreme Court has ruled he has the authority to do so. Just months ago, he made rate cuts a precondition for his Fed Chair appointee — now the market prices Fed Chair Warsh to hike at his first meeting. 𝗛𝘂𝗽𝘇𝘆 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲: The risk-off channel is broadening beyond crypto into the full trade complex. With $300B in monthly volume and key Asian partners in the crosshairs, a trade halt threat from the White House is a structural risk that can't be priced out in a single session. The Sep 16 Fed decision is now a binary event: cut and de-escalate, or hold/hike and trigger the trade weapon. SP500 faces tariff-risk repricing into the decision; BTC absorbs risk-off flow if the threat gains traction. September 16th is about to be a wild day. We now have President Trump threatening to "stop trading" with all countries that the US has a trade deficit with if the Fed does not CUT rates. This would effectively cut off trade with ~50% of all US trading partners, including Mexico, China, Taiwan, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Canada, and India. Trump says the Supreme Court has ruled that he has an "absolute right" to do so. Meanwhile, the market now thinks Fed Chair Warsh, who was just appointed by President Trump, will HIKE rates in his first rate move. Just months ago, President Trump said it was a precondition that his Fed Chair appointee is willing to cut rates. September 16th marks the next Fed decision. If the Fed doesn't cut rates on September 16th, a potential of $300+ billion in monthly US trade volume could apparently come to a halt. We will be breaking it all down in real-time.
