About KoreaChipsLeadRebound
The KOSPI rose over 4% intraday and more than 22% from its July 30 low, reentering a technical bull market. Samsung and SK hynix gained over 5% and 7%, triggering a brief program-buying halt. AI capex and recoveries in memory and optical stocks support the rally. Reports say Temasek may invest in both, but timing and size are unconfirmed. After a leverage-driven selloff, is this a valuation recovery powered by the memory cycle and foreign inflows, or another rebound in a concentrated market?

South Korea’s AI boom just went into overdrive 🇰🇷🚀
The KOSPI ripped 4.4% today, powered by Samsung and SK Hynix as investors pile into the AI chip trade.
Even crazier: the index is now 22% above its July low and up more than 60% in 2026—despite that brutal 22% July selloff.
The comeback is turning into a full-blown AI rally.

$SKHYNIX Wow! The Korean main index directly surged, jumping up by more than ten points. Samsung $SAMSUNG and SK hynix then took off as well! Once the leveraged positions are cleared, what remains is basically trend-following funds. If retail investors step in to buy and take over, the buying strength will be very strong. Looking back at the previous moves: every time $KORU stepped in to stabilize the market, Korean stocks—along with storage chip stocks—would go on to show a round of sustained rebounds. This rally is still in its early stage, more!!⬇️⬇️⬇️

NieuwsMarket Chatter: Singapore State Investment Arm to Acquire SK Hynix, Samsung Electronics Stocks
03:48 AM EDT, 08/12/2026 (MT Newswires) -- Singapore's state investment firm, Temasek, is looking to invest in South Korea listed, SK Hynix (KRX:000660) and Samsung Electronics (KRX:005930), Asia Business Daily reported Tuesday, citing relevant ministries and authorities.
Temasek has reportedly been in touch with the Korean government with regards to the investments, which will be made directly via the fund's in-house team, the report said.
Based on the report, Temasek considers the memory chip sector within the AI value chain as an undervalued sector.
SK Hynix and Samsung Electronics did not immediately respond to MT Newswires request for a comment.

$SMCI — the 17.6% gross margin was flattered by one-time items:
"GM improved by 750bps sequentially due to a better
than anticipated customer & product mix, including the deferral of
several contracts from Q4'26 to Q1'27 and perhaps the subsequent
quarter. This favorable mix contributed approximately 75% of the gross
margin improvement. Lower tariff costs and lower inventory reserves drove the remaining 25%."

Korea’s rebound has moved beyond a routine bounce: the KOSPI rose more than 22% from its July 30 low, while Samsung and SK hynix led the latest intraday advance with gains above 5% and 7%. The constructive case rests on AI capex and recovery across memory and optical stocks. Yet the same leadership also exposes the rally’s concentration. If foreign inflows broaden beyond a few chip names, the move may prove to be a durable valuation reset; without that breadth, it remains vulnerable to another leverage-driven reversal. Reports of possible Temasek investment are supportive, but unconfirmed timing and size limit their analytical weight. Not advice, just analysis.
