Bitcoin is still trading with very high leverage across exchanges. At the same time, onchain activity remains relatively weak compared with the growth of derivatives. More investors seem willing to keep capital on exchanges and use leverage rather than move BTC into self custody. Derivatives have never played such a dominant role in crypto market behavior. More leverage also means more liquidations, more forced exits and, for many traders, more frustration.
