Gold’s move above $4,400 is not just a momentum story. With $4,448.80/oz reached on Aug 11 and the metal up more than 8% this month, the more revealing signal may be whether demand holds after July U.S. CPI resets expectations for the dollar and real yields. The Abraxas-linked movement of roughly 25,400 XAUT, worth about $110M, adds an onchain dimension, but transfers alone do not prove fresh buying. If haven demand and central-bank support persist while macro pressure stays favorable, strength could broaden; if CPI reverses those conditions, positioning may matter more than the headline high.
