Grayscale's founder Barry Silbert talked about quite a few topics at the Bhutan event—ZEC, meme coins, and US stock trading 24/7×. But there is one detail that almost everyone overlooks. He said two things: The first sentence: "Once U.S. stocks achieve 24×7 trading hours, the appeal of tokenized stocks in the U.S. market will decline." ” The second sentence: "But there is still room for development in other regions." ” Do you understand? He is saying one thing: the real battlefield for tokenized stocks has never been the United States. Most people misunderstand the logic behind tokenizing stocks. Do you think the value of tokenized stocks is to "allow U.S. stocks to be traded 24/7"? Wrong. If US stocks could trade 24/7, why would Americans buy tokenized versions? Why not just buy the underlying stocks directly? What Silbert really meant is—the value of tokenized stocks is "geoarbitrage." This allows those without U.S. stock trading rights to access U.S. stock assets. Southeast Asia, Latin America, Africa, Turkey—investors in these places want to buy Nvidia, Tesla, or Apple? Traditional brokerage? The threshold for opening an account is ridiculously high. Cross-border remittance? It's a huge hassle. Language barriers? Not to mention it. But with tokenized stocks—you only need a wallet to buy them. Data doesn't lie. Currently, the cumulative global trading volume of tokenized stocks has exceeded $20 billion, with global holdings exceeding $1 billion. Of these, 80% of tokenized stock trading volume comes from emerging markets. 73% of new users come from emerging markets, and 40% have transaction amounts below $100. Binance predicts that its tokenized equity AUM on its platform could reach $10 billion by year-end. What do these numbers indicate? Explain that this is not speculation—this is a genuine need. Young people in Southeast Asia, retail investors in Latin America, entrepreneurs in Africa—they want U.S. stock exposure, but traditional financial systems keep them out. Tokenized stocks—that's the key. Next, let's look at infrastructure. Hyperliquid has already launched tokenized shares, with the first batch supporting five assets including NVDAx, SPYx, and QQQx. Robinhood launched its own blockchain, listing 190 tokenized U.S. stocks covering 120 countries. OKX has listed over 20 stock perpetual accounts, covering Mag 7 and serving jurisdictions such as Asia, CIS, Latin America, and Turkey. Silbert even bluntly stated that the competitive pressure brought by Hyperliquid could accelerate the shift to all-weather trading in US stocks. See that? Crypto trading platforms are transforming from fringe challengers into drivers of traditional market infrastructure. This is the real signal in Silbert's words— Tokenized stocks in the U.S. market may just be an appetizer. The real main dish is the billions of people worldwide who lack U.S. stock trading rights. Southeast Asia has a population of 600 million. Latin America has 600 million. Africa has 1.4 billion. The Middle East has 500 million. These markets combined—much larger than the U.S. domestic market. When Robinhood covers 120 countries, when OKX serves Asia and Latin America, when Binance users travel from Mexico to Brazil to Africa— This is not doing business for Americans. It is handing the world a ticket to U.S. stocks. Smart money is already laying out the logic of "geographic arbitrage." Those who are watching the progress of U.S. compliance are still watching the news. Those watching the adoption speed in emerging markets are already counting the money. In the tokenized asset sector, don't just look at what the SEC says—look at what people in Indonesia, Brazil, and Nigeria are buying. Silbert laid out the answer on the table.
